Med anledning av mediaintresset i samband med tillsättandet av en ny svensk Förbundskapten vill jag göra följande uttalande.

Jag är naturligtvis mycket stolt över att ha varit en av Svenska Fotbollförbundets kandidater. Extra hedrad känner jag mig faktiskt över det stöd jag fått från svenska supportrar i olika nätundersökningar i svensk media, samt spelare i laget.

Efter att Lars-Åke Lagrell kontaktat mig kan jag bekräfta att jag övervägt frågan mycket noga men på egen hand kommit fram till att uppdraget tyvärr inte passar in med det långsiktiga åtagande jag tagit på mig i Notts County som jag planerar att fullfölja.

Att få representera mitt hemland i en förbundskaptensroll är bland det finaste tränaruppdrag jag skulle kunna tänka mig, men jag vet samtidigt att Sverige har många andra mycket kompetenta kandidater varför jag ser en fortsatt ljus framtid för svensk fotboll.

Jag kommer inte att lämna några ytterligare kommentarer i denna fråga.

In reference to the media interest surrounding the process of appointing a new Head Coach for the Swedish National Team, I would like to give the following statement.

I am, of course, honoured to have been one of the Swedish Football Associations candidates. I am even more proud of the belief the Swedish supporters seem to have in me based on a number of online surveys, as well as the personal support I have been receiving from Players.

After having been contacted by the Chairman of the Swedish Football Association I have considered the position carefully and have, unfortunately, come to the conclusion that it is not compatible with the long-term commitments I have made to Nott’s County FC, which I intend to fulfil.

To have the opportunity to represent my home country as Head Coach would have been the greatest honour a football manager could wish for. However, Sweden has a number of other very competent candidates and I envisage a continued bright and successful future for Swedish football.

I will give no further comments in reference to this matter.
